steamboat

gosh the problem with traveling over chinese new year is that we end up stalling this amazing steamboat party (thanks, A!) till  one week into the new year. and then i forget to post about it in time, and uh new year's come and gone and we're already in march?! i love steamboat and could have it any time and all the time. any excuse, really! and mother is the necessity of invention because our very resourceful A re-purposed rice cookers in place of a 'proper' steamboat pot. genius! and worked just as well. in fact, it worked so well that one very cheeky dr. koo smuggled his rice cooker back full of curry soup and floaters. A really went to town and we were so grateful for the lengths he went to to ensure it was a steamboat to remember. the freshest seafood, authentic ingredients and freshly fried nian gou at the end. along with lovingly brewed home-made ginger soup for the tang yuan (delicious zing!) we brought bubbles and were in stitches at D's crazy tales of being an SQ steward. hilarious! nothing i can repeat on a public forum but you know how we love a good story and do ask when we next meet. it was such an eye opener and i'll think twice before asking for green tea on my next flight ;)
